Terms of Service
Updated May 2026- Be honest: one account per person, only upload material you have the right to study from, and don't try to abuse, scrape, or resell the service.
- AI is not a doctor: generated cards and quizzes can be wrong. Verify clinical, legal, or financial material against authoritative sources before acting on it.
- You own your content: we just process it on your behalf. Delete it anytime; we delete with you.
01Accepting these terms
By creating an account, signing in, or using Vignette Study in any other way, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and the company operating Vignette Study (referred to here as "we" or "us").
02Your account
One account, one person. Don't share login credentials. Don't create multiple accounts to abuse free-tier limits.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Vignette Study. If you're between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm a parent or legal guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Tell us promptly at support@vignettestudy.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
03Acceptable use
Don't:
- Use the service to harass, threaten, or defame anyone.
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically download content that isn't yours.
- Upload copyrighted material you do not have the right to use for personal study — this includes textbooks, third-party question banks, and lecture recordings shared without permission.
- Reverse-engineer the service, probe for vulnerabilities outside our published bug-bounty scope, or interfere with other users' accounts.
- Use Vignette Study to generate content that violates our acceptable-use policy or applicable law.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate this section.
04AI-generated content
Vignette Study uses large language models — primarily Anthropic's Claude family — to generate learning objectives, flashcards, and assessment items from the source material you upload. We invest in prompt design, citation grounding, and structured output to keep accuracy high, but errors and hallucinations are possible and you should expect them at some non-zero rate.
You remain responsible for verifying anything you act on. For clinical content, the authoritative sources are your textbooks, society guidelines, attending physicians, and licensed instructors — not a flashcard. A wrong card cannot harm you; acting on a wrong card without verification can.
If you find a generated card that is incorrect, please flag it inside the app — it helps us improve the system and removes the card from your scheduled reviews.
05Your content
You keep ownership of every lecture, transcript, card, note, and edit you upload or create on Vignette Study. We do not claim any ownership of your content.
To run the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, transmit, and process your content for the sole purpose of providing Vignette Study to you. This license ends when you delete the content, when you delete your account, or when we delete the content on your instruction.
We will never use your content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. This is also stated as a contractual term with our AI subprocessors. See the Privacy Policy for the full data-flow.
06Sharing features
Some Vignette features let you share a course, lecture, or assessment publicly via a link. By sharing, you affirm that:
- You hold the rights to the underlying material — your own notes, your own recordings, or content you have permission to redistribute.
- The content does not include personally identifying information about classmates, patients, or anyone else who has not consented.
- The content does not violate institutional rules, course-honor codes, or the licensing terms of any source material it was generated from.
We may remove shared content that we have reason to believe violates these affirmations.
07Termination
You can delete your account at any time from /settings/delete-account. We will delete your content as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that pose a security or integrity risk to the service, or that are inactive for more than 36 months. Where appropriate, we will give you notice and a chance to export your data before deletion.
08Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Vignette Study is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
09Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [placeholder — to be set on incorporation], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
